Rule 2. Purpose and Construction

These Rules are intended to provide for the just determination of every proceeding governed by them. They shall be construed to secure simplicity in procedure, fairness in administration, and the elimination of unjustifiable expense and delay.

Committee Advisory Note [December 2014] The Rule parallels the content of Rule 2 of the Maine Rules of Criminal Procedure but clarifies that the new Rules apply to "every proceeding governed by them," not solely criminal proceedings.
